Presented by Pilipino Cultural Exchange

Tickets: General Admission: Adult-$15

Cal Poly’s Pilipino Cultural Exchange would like to invite you to our 28th annual Pilipinx Cultural Night (PCN) – Makibaka!! !

PCN is a night of singing, dancing, and a scripted play that demonstrates Pilipino culture and history. Our Pilipino club’s very own traditional dance group, Kasayahan, our hip-hop dance group, Modern, our choir group, Ating Himig, along with the actors and actresses of the script will be featured to give a one of a kind performance.! !

This year’s play, Makibaka, explores life in the Philippines during the late 1970’s; a time when reigning president, Ferdinand Marcos, enacted Martial Law upon the country. A law where the civil rights of the people were suspended and military authority was enforced everywhere.

Under Martial Law, the people of the Philippines were divided against each other as political tensions rose in the streets between those in favor and those opposed against the proclamation.! ! Our story begins with an account of two young, brave siblings who challenge the role of the Philippine government.

We follow their journey as they try to call unto others within their hometown for unity and justice. However, they will find that not everyone will be quite ready and willing to join the fight as they face adversity among family, friends, and law enforcement. ! !

Come join us in our celebration of Pilipino culture! We welcome people from all backgrounds, as
we strongly stress the fact that we are a club of cultural exchange.!

Oklahoma!

May 18 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Presented by AGHS Theatre Company

General Admission: $10 Students, $12 Seniors, $15 adult:
$2 surcharge at the door

Rodgers & Hammerstein’s first collaboration remains, in many ways, their most innovative, having set the standards and established the rules of musical theatre still being followed today. Set in a Western Indian territory just after the turn of the century, the high-spirited rivalry between the local farmers and cowboys provides the colorful background against which Curly, a handsome cowboy, and Laurey, a winsome farm girl, play out their love story.

Although the road to true love never runs smooth, with these two headstrong romantics holding the reins, love’s journey is as bumpy as a surrey ride down a country road. That they will succeed in making a new life together we have no doubt, and that this new life will begin in a brand-new state provides the ultimate climax to the triumphant OKLAHOMA!

Suitability: PG – for violence
