Stone Soup Music Festival – August 28-29

Update for 2021

It’s back on August 28 & 29!  Since the 90’s, this annual festival designed to celebrate diversity through music, food, arts and crafts has been happening in Grover Beach.  In partnership with the South County Chambers of Commerce, the Clark Center will be coordinating the event and is so excited to be back this summer and welcoming you to the Ramona Garden Park Center to once again celebrate.

Stone Soup History

The name “Stone Soup” is taken from an old folk tale about a starving village where a stranger arrives and promises to cook enough soup from a stone to feed the entire population. As he cooks and tastes the soup, he asks each villager to contribute an ingredient for flavor, and the result is a tasty, nourishing soup that feeds them all. The moral is that by everyone pulling together and combining their diverse strengths, much can be accomplished.

The founders of the Grover Beach Stone Soup Music Festival, created the event with this story in mind hoping to provide a venue for a wide variety of local and guest musicians, artists, and food & merchandise vendors to share in their cultural and ethnic diversities. Over the years this festival has remained popular among locals as well as drawing thousands of visitors to our community. With it’s first year kicking off in 1990 this year marks the 31st anniversary, although last year’s event was cancelled due to the pandemic.

The Clark Center is excited to be able to plan this event and will be doing so keeping this origin story in mind. This event will be packed with activities for everyone!
