Cabaret 805

Cabaret 805

Presented by the Clark Center

“Cabaret”, you ask. “What is it?”

Cabaret is an intimate form of theatrical entertainment featuring music, song, and storytelling that usually takes place in a restaurant or nightclub with seating generally less than 100.

Picture you and a friend enjoying delicious appetizers and beverages as a singer, accompanied by a jazz pianist, performs as though they were having a direct conversation with you. Some songs are vibrant and festive, others, poignant and heartwarming. Think of a 1930’s supper club.

Cabaret song selections have traditionally been from the Great American songbook. (Think Cole Porter, George & Ira Gershwin, Harold Arlen etc.)

However, with so much wonderful new music available, we have opened our minds to exploring contemporary songs as well. We invite you to come and enjoy the renewed intrigue of the Cabaret World.

Ticket price includes light appetizers and dessert. Doors open at 4pm.

Beer, wine and other beverages will be available for purchase.

There will be at least four performers, a pianist and bass player.

Held on the intimate setting of the Main Stage!

Cabaret has meant many things at different times to different people. In general, the term today simply means a solo singer with piano singing songs in a small room. There are a limited number of cabaret houses in New York and other big cities that host cabaret singers. They usually seat fewer than 100 people. The intimacy of these smaller rooms is important in contemporary cabaret.

Cabaret 805 is a community of singers, musicians, and fans creating a cabaret performance scene on the central coast of California.

Cabaret 805 was formed to help give singers a place to perform
where they don’t have to make a 3 or 4 month commitment to rehearsals and the run of a show.

Cabaret 805 is where singers can keep singing and growing as performers trying new songs or sing a song they may not ever have the chance to perform in any other venue.

Cabaret 805 was developed to keep singers singing and performing, not just in the shower or living room but in a venue to live accompaniment not backing tracks.
