Bear Market Riot won San Luis Obispo’s New Times readers poll pick for “Best Band” the last three years in a row. This “Power-Folk” duo of Kirk Nordby and Nick Motil is known for its energetic blend of sounds from folk to funk. This concert is a replay of their Live Oak 2020 performance.
NPR affiliate KCBX radio has been on the air since 1975. The station began their annual “Live Oak” fundraiser in 1988. This year’s festival was held online, due to the pandemic.
This performance was recently shot in a studio in the city of San Luis Obispo.

Layered Salad Recipe
1 1/2 cups uncooked small pasta shells
1 tbsp vegetable oil
3 cups shredded lettuce
3 hard-boiled eggs, sliced
1/4 tsp salt
1/8 tsp pepper
(3 cups shredded, cooked chicken breasts-optional)
1 pkg (10 oz) frozen peas, thawed
1 cup mayonnaise
1/4 cup sour cream
2 green onions, chopped
2 tsp Dijon mustard
1 cup (4 oz) shredded Colby or Jack cheese
2 tbsp minced fresh parsley
Cook pasta according to package directions; drain and rinse with cold water. Drizzle with oil and toss, to,coat.
Place the lettuce in a 2 1/2 quart glass serving bowl. Top with pasta & eggs. Sprinkle with salt & pepper. Layer chicken, if using, and peas. In a small bowl, mix dressing ingredients until blended; spread over top. Cover and refrigerate for several hours, or overnight.
Just before serving, sprinkle with cheese and parsley.
