Katie Boeck Sings BLUE:
A Celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the Legendary Album by Joni Mitchell
Presented by the Clark Center
Exclusively Sponsored by Digital West
In June of 1971 Joni Mitchell released what would go on to be her most beloved work, the now legendary album “Blue”. A deeply honest and vulnerable collection of songs, blue has been the soundtrack to the lives of so many throughout the past 5 decades as they’ve navigated the joys and sorrows of their own relationships. the show features Katie on Piano, Guitar and Dulcimer, Michael Gannon (Guitar, Vocals), Chris Benelli (Percussion), and Makenna Hartlin (Background Vocals).
With a minimal set resembling a dark café, Miles Davis’ “Kind of Blue” plays while audiences take their seats. The lights dim as the drone of the dulcimer begins the show. From the lonely roads of “All I Want” to the winds of Africa in “Carey” and the “Acid, booze and ass” of the title track, Katie’s voice echoes the soaring emotional range, playful textures and haunting hues of Joni’s “Blue” in a way that few can emulate.
