Introducing our Youth to the Arts
For the past 14 years, the Clark Center for the Performing Arts
has been providing programming to the students of
Lucia Mar Unified School District free of charge.
Each year about 6,000 students enjoy a professional, educational and entertaining performance at the Clark Center. For many of the children it is their first experience in a professional performing arts center.
The excitement in the theatre is amazing before the show starts; children are dressed in their finest, they are nervously chattering and looking into all the corners of the room, and wondering what is behind the big curtain. As the lights go down, a hush moves through the auditorium, eyes are wide
with wonder as the big curtain opens and the show begins.
Imagine being a part of this wonderful experience!
In the spring of each year, a volunteer committee of retired educators, administrators and community members select shows for the following school year. Performances feature dancing, music, storytelling and experiments! Performers come from all over the world and from our backyard via student performances, PCPA and other local productions.
The goal of the Clark Center is to continue to provide these programs free of charge to Lucia Mar students, and at a subsidized price for others. To do this, we need help from the community.
